We recently wrapped up our part in a major recreation project for the City of Lafayette Parks and Recreation Department at McCaw Park—a community favorite known for its trails, shaded picnic areas, and expansive recreational amenities on the city’s east side.
This project involved the complete removal of 12 existing pickleball courts to make room for 26 brand-new courts—a significant expansion that speaks to the sport’s rising popularity in Lafayette.
JR Company led the overall construction effort, which included demolition, base work, paving, and fencing. Although the project was originally slated for completion by the end of 2024, soil stabilization issues were uncovered during early sitework, pushing timelines back. Once the site was stabilized and the courts were paved and fenced in, AG Sports Surfaces was brought in to finish the job.
Over a 4-week period, we coated and painted more than 48,000 square feet using over 1400 gallons of sport surface coating. We also installed the net posts and nets to complete the setup. Like any spring project, we faced a few rain delays, but we worked around the weather to get the job done right.
Thanks to All Involved
We’d like to thank JR Company for their leadership on this project and for trusting us with the finishing touches. We’re also grateful to the City of Lafayette Parks and Recreation Department for the opportunity to contribute to such an impactful community upgrade. And finally, a big shoutout to our crew for their hard work and professionalism throughout every step of the process.
We’re proud to have been part of creating a top-tier pickleball facility at McCaw Park—and we can’t wait to see the courts in action.
